    The weather station located directly behind the LUMCON facility collects both metrological and hydrographical data. The instruments that are used to measure and collect the data are calibrated and maintained. Parameters such as the year, Julian date, time, stationed, signature, latitude, longitude, air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, quantum solar radiation, barometric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, precipitation, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, depth, turbidity, and the number of scans done in a minute are collected. These parameters are collected once every minute and saved in a .dat file.

To provide the public and scientific community with historic monitoring data which can be viewed via the web by visiting www.weather.lumcon.edu.

    Type: Lab

    Various instruments are used to collect the data. Refer to the analytical tools sited to obtain specific details about the instruments used. The station is maintained and serviced by LUMCON's technician. Here is the schedule of station visits for the year. Routine sonde swap and inspection-2002-01-04 Routine sonde swap and station inspection. Secured inner aluminum square tubing supporting temp and humidity to tower with tie wrap to prevent wind chatter-2002-01-24 Routine sonde swap and station inspection-2002-02-14 Used underwater camera to inspect sonde deployment pipe. Pipe is coated with growth and barnacles. Holes in pipe appear to be mostly open but are limited in number. We will replace this pipe with a new one -2002-02-18 Routine sonde swap and station inspection-2002-03-07 Scheduled routine sonde swap and station inspection-2002-03-21 Sonde registered a 6 inch variance at swap. Checked out the sonde that was retrieved and found that the depth had drifted considerably. Sending sonde back to YSI for repair-2002-03-21 Scheduled Sonde Swap-2002-04-15 Scheduled sonde swap-2002-05-01 scheduled sonde swap and full station inspection-2002-06-26

    Gaps in the data set are usually caused by equipment failure. It was noted that on 3/31/2002 that water height was not correct. It was due to an error with the sonde. The sonde was shipped back to the factory and repaired.

    The data sets are based upon the values that are recorded by the data logger.
